At her 4 month check up Claire's pediatrician told us Claire had eczema and referred us to a pediatric dermatologist. What is eczema?

It is particularly common in young children and infants. While many infants who develop the condition outgrow it by their second birthday, some people continue to experience symptoms on and off throughout life. With proper treatment, the disease can be controlled in the majority of sufferers.
Claire has it on her little body but it is extremely bad on her head. Poor girl! So the dermatologist prescribed a scalp oil (that cost $30!) to help treat the eczema on her head. She looked so funny sporting her little shower cap:
