18 months

We have a BIG 18 month-er! She is healthy, we are thankful. 

Talking
Claire has been talking up a storm lately. She repeats a lot, which is pretty funny and errrr eye opening. And she loves shouting different letters and pointing to letters on license plates, t-shirts, etc. New favorite words/phrases are: shoe, outside, help, all done, diaper, etc.

Eating
Claire continues to be a picky eater. Hopefully her food repertoire will grow again (around 11 months she ate about anything we put in front of her). For now she eats basics ( pizza, chicken nuggets, cheese quesadilla (I try to sneak in some veggies), french fries, and steak  but it has been really difficult to get her to try new fruits and any vegetables (except sweet potatoes).

Little Olympian

We are looking forward to the summer Olympics. Claire has been practicing:

Swinging. Not an Olympic sport but the girl loves to swing. And we think she might win a gold medal for hair growth.

Gymnastics. She loves going to the Little Gym on Saturday mornings.

Running. Well kind of. Kids 3 and under can participate in the
Columbia Track Club's summer youth program. She liked the stretching part.

Everyone lining up to run a 50 yard dash. Claire is um...going the wrong way. Adam is
trying to point her in the right direction without success.

She was much more interested in checking out the high school
football players on the other
end of the field. So that was nice.

Finally, she enjoyed the "cool down" part and the ice
cream that followed. It was 104 degrees. She was "ho-th".

 A few pictures from our trip to "the Lake" earlier this week. Adam needed to go for a work conference so Claire and I tagged along. We hung out by the pool, hit the outlet mall and ate lots of french fries...mmmmmmm. We also got to hang out with Grandma Marcia, Grandpa Jerry, Aunt Gayle and Elizabeth on Sunday (Fathers Day) but failed to take any pictures. LOTO--always a good time! Brings back memories of going there w/ Ella and her family a long time ago.

10 things to do before2!

Title of this post is says it all...here is a list of 10 things we would like to do with Claire before she turns 2 (in no particular order):

1. Oceans of Fun. Thanks to Aunt Peggy and Uncle Roy, we have no excuse. We are going this summer.
2. MLB game. Could be a Cards game, could be a Royals game. Probably will be in the fall when it is cooler out.
3. go to a zoo.
4. go to the beach. We will cross this off in July when we go to Destin, FL. Can't wait.
5. get ice cream @ Sparky's.
6. have burgers @ Booches. 
7. take Claire to her first SEC football game.
8. go to Rock Bridge State Park.
9. go to a concert.
10. Chiefs game. Hope to make this an annual tradition.

Nothing too crazy on this list...I think we can cross everything off. What are we forgetting? Should we add anything to this list?

Weekend

Fun weekend! Adam and I went to Washington, MO for his firm's annual retreat. Washington, MO--who knew? We had a really great time. Probably the best retreat we have been on, maybe because we appreciated the time away more than ever. We love our girl more than anything but it was nice to have time by ourselves. And I think Claire needed a break from us too because she had a blast in KC. Thanks Nana, Doc and Aunt Meredith for keeping her for the weekend. She was extra sweet and extra well dressed when we picked her up yesterday.
