Memorial Day Weekend

We had a great Memorial Day Weekend! On Saturday, we went to St. Louis for a quick visit, where the Bruegenhemkes (the Bruegs) hosted an excellent BBQ. On Sunday Aunt Gayle and Elizabeth came over and brought dinner. And on Monday we all slept in and enjoyed the beautiful day.  Thanks to all who have served and continue to serve our country - you are remembered and celebrated this weekend and always!

Power Clashing

Adam got Claire dressed this morning. Pink outfit, blue socks, lots of flair (bib + pacifier lanyard thing + pacifier). He called it power clashing (from 30 Rock).

UrbanDictionaryDefinition:

Combining clothing items that according to style etiquette do not go together. Doing this as a powerful figure will result in people unquestionably approving your fashion sense, and taking you in higher esteem.
> I'll tell you what I don't do: wear a striped tie with a striped shirt!

< It's called... power clashing. And I do it because I can.

This was quite an outfit! And quite a week...it's been pretty quiet here on the blog, no excuses but we are really glad it's almost the weekend! Looking forward to hanging out with the Bruegs family on Saturday! Have a great Memorial Day weekend everyone!

Claire hair care

At her 4 month check up Claire's pediatrician told us Claire had eczema and referred us to a pediatric dermatologist. What is eczema?

From WebMD: According to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, the prevalence of atopic eczema is increasing and affects 9 to 30% of the U.S. population. It is particularly common in young children and infants. While many infants who develop the condition outgrow it by their second birthday, some people continue to experience symptoms on and off throughout life. With proper treatment, the disease can be controlled in the majority of sufferers.

Claire has it on her little body but it is extremely bad on her head. Poor girl! So the dermatologist prescribed a scalp oil (that cost $30!) to help treat the eczema on her head. She looked so funny sporting her little shower cap:

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Wondering when she can go take a bath to get the ridiculous cap off.

Baptized

Claire was baptized today, it was a wonderful day and we feel so blessed to be surrounded by such a loving, supportive family. Twenty two family members traveled to Columbia to celebrate Claire. We love you all and were thinking of everyone that couldn't be here with us!

Claire's looked very sweet in her dress, a generous gift from Grandma Louise and Grandpa Truman.

Claire the gardener

Claire worked hard yesterday picking out flowers at a local greenhouse. She is at home today with my mom working hard to plant them. We hope to teach her to mow the lawn next week!

Baby at the bar

Adam plays sand volleyball at a local bar every Wednesday night. It was such a beautiful day yesterday and the game was scheduled to start at 6P so Claire and I went to go cheer on the Sandjobs, and they won! It felt a bit funny getting carded at the door carrying a baby and a diaper bag, but we had fun.
